An additional 1.5 million EUR will be available from the state budget for the implementation of 10 pilot projects for the renovation of multi-apartment buildings using industrially produced wooden frame panels.

This decision was made by the government on Tuesday, April 1st, supporting amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers' Regulation No. 880 "Support Program Conditions for Implementing Energy Efficiency Measures in Multi-Apartment Residential Buildings" from December 17, 2024. The allocated funding will allow for an additional 20% of the project eligible costs, but not exceeding 150,000 EUR per project.

Minister of Economics, Viktors Valainis: "This is a significant step not only in improving Latvia’s energy efficiency but also in promoting sustainable construction. With these projects, we will not only renovate old multi-apartment buildings, but also provide a boost to the local economy by creating demand for high-quality industrially produced wooden frame panels. We prioritize green energy and sustainable construction technologies, which pave the way for Latvia's future."

The additional funding is intended as a supplement to the existing support program, under which EU fund financing is available for up to 50% if industrially produced wooden frame panels are used in the renovation of multi-apartment residential buildings. As a result, with the additional 20% support, the total support for a project can reach up to 70%. This approach will not only reduce building energy consumption but also promote the growth of local manufacturers by offering new products in the market.

Starting on April 3, 2025, at 11:00, ALTUM will begin accepting applications for the multi-apartment building energy efficiency improvement support program. Interested parties can find more information and follow the application process on the ALTUM website at www.altum.lv.
