From 19 February, entrepreneurs have access to the new version of the business support platform Business.gov.lv, which will become a single contact point for state-provided e-services for entrepreneurs and those who are planning to start a business.

The new version of Business.gov.lv is the first step in creating a unified contact point for entrepreneurs within a broader development process that will continue until 2030, gradually expanding the range of services and digital solutions.

“The business environment must be clear, predictable, and digitally accessible. We are systematically reducing the administrative burden, and a unified digital contact point is an essential step in this direction. Entrepreneurs should not have to spend time searching for information across different institutions – the state must be able to provide it in one place, in a clear and convenient way. Business.gov.lv is the foundation for a modern, results-oriented public administration,” emphasizes Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis.

“I would like to commend the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) for its ambition and contribution in ensuring a unified offering of state and municipal services needed by entrepreneurs in their daily activities, helping them access public services more efficiently. I see Business.gov.lv as a guide for entrepreneurs – a roadmap to the state and municipal services required for doing business. The platform offers a unique opportunity in Latvia – from the ‘entrepreneur’s perspective’ to quickly and easily navigate and request the services needed in a specific business situation, without needing to understand the functions, responsibilities, and service scope of government institutions. Among other things, the platform will help entrepreneurs navigate various formalities related to business life situations. I encourage entrepreneurs to try this new opportunity and provide feedback to the platform owner – LIAA – for further improvement. Together we can!” says Gatis Ozols, Deputy State Secretary for Digital Transformation at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development.

“Until now, only the e-services provided by LIAA were available on the business support platform Business.gov.lv, but today we are taking a step toward a unified digital contact point for entrepreneurs. In the new platform, entrepreneurs will be able to apply for the e-services they need from a single website, according to their practical needs. Our goal is to make public administration more accessible and user-friendly for entrepreneurs,” emphasizes LIAA Director Ieva Jāgere.

Unified digital contact point

Business.gov.lv has been developed with support from the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) to make essential information for entrepreneurs more accessible, understandable, and structured. The creation of such a platform will also help institutions comply with the requirements of the European Union’s Single Digital Gateway Regulation, which предусматриes that information about key business services must be available digitally and in a user-friendly format.

“Life situation” approach

The new version of Business.gov.lv features improved search functionality and introduces a “life situation” structure, allowing entrepreneurs to more quickly find the information they need about starting, developing, managing, or making changes to a business. The platform brings together information on more than 600 state e-services, support programmes, consultations, licences, and business requirements.

It should be noted that Business.gov.lv will function as a unified service catalogue, where explanations of the necessary steps to receive services will be available in one place. A single sign-on system will allow users, after one authentication, to freely navigate between services provided by LIAA, the State Revenue Service, the Register of Enterprises, and other institutions.

Next steps

Further development of the platform предусматриes expanding the range of services offered, as well as introducing artificial intelligence tools to provide more personalized and user-tailored information. By 2030, Business.gov.lv is planned to integrate additional state services relevant to entrepreneurs, making the platform a comprehensive digital environment for business.

About the project

The platform is being developed within the framework of the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility investment 2.1.2.1 “Digital Services Platform Business.gov.lv”, in close cooperation with public institutions and business representatives.

Its development is gradual – testing solutions, improving usability, and adapting the platform to the real needs of entrepreneurs. Special attention in the development process has been given to user experience – entrepreneurs are actively involved in testing and provide feedback on the platform’s usability.

The project “Digital Services Platform for Promoting Business Development” is implemented with funding from the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility (NextGenerationEU).
