Traditionally, the Ministry of Economics (EM) participates in the "Junior Achievement Latvia" organized Shadow Day. This year, it took place on Friday, April 4th, and 11 young people from various schools across Latvia "shadowed" the Minister of Economics, Viktors Valainis, and the parliamentary secretary of the EM, Jurģis Miezainis.
The Minister's "shadow" day started quite early, as the young people had the opportunity to join V. Valainis for the "TV3" morning show "900 seconds," where they could observe the preparation process and the making of the program live.
Afterward, the "shadows" attended a meeting with the leaders of the EM's state-owned companies, which provided insight into the broad range of the ministry's responsibilities.
Subsequently, the parliamentary secretary surprised the young people with an unexpected media training session and then provided an insight into public speaking.
The "shadows" got acquainted with the latest trends in artificial intelligence, visited a bank, and went to the Cabinet of Ministers, with some also visiting the Saeima (Latvian Parliament).
EM representatives were pleased to welcome "shadows" not only from educational institutions in the capital city but also from Jelgava, Tukums, Bauska, Liepāja, and even Jēkabpils!
