On Friday, May 23, the Minister of Economics will visit Aizkraukle and Jēkabpils municipalities to meet with local entrepreneurs, municipal representatives, and residents.

The aim of the visit is to strengthen cooperation with the regions, understand the needs of local businesses and residents, and promote economic development opportunities in the area.

“Regions are the driving force of Latvia’s economy. Therefore, meeting with entrepreneurs and residents in person is essential to truly understand their everyday challenges and needs. Only through dialogue can we find effective solutions that promote both regional and national growth,” emphasizes Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis.

The visit will begin in Aizkraukle municipality with a tour of the Sēlija training ground, followed by meetings with the manufacturing companies “MV Tara” in Jaunjelgava and “Pakavs” in Aizkraukle. The minister will also meet with Aizkraukle municipal officials and local business representatives to discuss cooperation opportunities and state support instruments for regional business development.

In the second part of the visit, the minister will head to Jēkabpils municipality, where he will visit the bakery “Dona” in Salas parish, as well as the manufacturing companies “Armiks” and “Jēkabpils PMK.” Meetings with Jēkabpils municipal officials and business representatives are also planned.

The day will conclude with a meeting with residents from 16:00 to 17:00 at Vecpilsētas laukums 3 in Jēkabpils. All residents are welcome to attend!

Regional visits are an important step toward strengthening mutual understanding and building a closer connection between national government and the regions. They provide valuable insights into the needs and development potential of local communities and foster dialogue and trust between various levels of governance. This presence in the regions demonstrates a readiness to cooperate as equal partners.
