J.Miezainis vizītē Polijā

From December 8 to 10, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Economics, Jurgis Miezainis, visited Poland, where he met in Warsaw with Krzysztof Gulda, Acting President of the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), and participated in the 2025 Innovation Days panel discussion, organized by CEE (Central Eastern Europe), titled “Digital Deregulation for a More Competitive Europe.”

A meeting with Michal Kanownik, President of the Digital Poland Association, confirmed that the CEE region has enormous potential for the development of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, especially in areas where the region already excels – such as 5G technologies, MedTech, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and others. During the discussions, both parties agreed that in order to become a significant and influential player, countries must unite and speak with one voice. Only in this way can the necessary innovation development and economic growth be ensured.

Parliamentary Secretary J. Miezainis took a keen interest in Poland’s experience in testing the digital skills and preparedness of students and teachers for various online situations. The collected data helps in designing effective programs for the education system and in preparing future professionals for the dynamic and growing ICT sector in Poland.

During the visit, J. Miezainis participated in the CEE-organized 2025 Innovation Days panel discussion on “Digital Deregulation for a More Competitive Europe.” Together with participants from Poland and Romania, the discussion explored questions such as how to assess the Digital Omnibus and whether deregulation and simplification are sufficient steps to enhance Europe’s competitiveness. The Digital Omnibus is a legislative package, an EU initiative, designed to consolidate, harmonize, and simplify the implementation of digital regulations, ensuring a uniform, efficient, and less bureaucratic digital framework across the EU.

"Innovation growth is essential, and the goals must be ambitious. The Digital Omnibus can serve as a strong impulse if we promote and use it correctly, actively, and purposefully. If only half a step is taken forward, growth will also be only half of what is possible – and that is not enough for the region. The CEE region has enormous potential, but it is important to remember that investments come where there are simple and clear rules of the game and the corresponding infrastructure is in place," emphasized J. Miezainis.
